Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-04-27 · Last updated: 2026-04-27
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes the prohibited uses of DistroShield. The AUP is part of the Terms of Service. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. No illegal use
You may not use the Service:
- To violate any applicable law or regulation in your jurisdiction or ours.
- To process audio that infringes a third party's intellectual property rights or that you don't have authorization to analyze.
- To facilitate fraud, money laundering, or sanctions evasion.
- To process child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content depicting minors in sexual contexts. Such uploads will be reported to law enforcement.
2. No abuse of the Service
You may not:
- Share your API key with unaffiliated parties or use it from production environments belonging to other organizations without a separate account.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our models, training data, or proprietary algorithms.
- Use scraped, automated, or competitive intelligence techniques to extract DistroShield outputs at volume to train competing detection systems.
- Submit deliberately crafted inputs designed to probe model boundaries for adversarial purposes (e.g., to evade detection in production at another distributor).
- Exceed rate limits, attempt denial-of-service, or otherwise interfere with the Service or its users.
- Bypass authentication, quotas, billing, or security controls.
3. No harmful audio content
You may not submit audio that:
- Contains death threats, calls for violence, or harassment of identifiable individuals.
- Violates the privacy of identifiable individuals (e.g., recorded private conversations without consent).
- Defames or libels identifiable individuals or organizations.
4. No misuse of the analysis results
DistroShield outputs are probabilistic and decision-support only. You may not:
- Represent DistroShield analyses as authoritative legal or forensic evidence without disclosing the probabilistic nature.
- Auto-publish results to users or rights holders without a human-in-the-loop review process.
- Use DistroShield to mass-flag content on third-party platforms (DSPs, social media) without complying with those platforms' rules.
5. Prohibited business categories
The Service is for legitimate music distributors, labels, and publishers. We may decline service to:
- Adult content distributors (porn music distribution).
- Operations primarily distributing AI-generated music designed to evade detection (i.e., the inverse use case — using DistroShield to train evasion).
- Operations on US sanctions lists (OFAC, etc.).
6. Reporting abuse
If you observe abuse of the Service or content shared with us that violates this AUP, please report it to contact@distroshield.com. We investigate all credible reports.
7. Enforcement
Violations may result in (in order of severity, depending on the violation):
- Warning email and a chance to remediate
- Temporary rate-limiting or feature restriction
- Account suspension
- Account termination and forfeiture of remaining trial / prepaid balance
- Referral to law enforcement (for unlawful conduct)
8. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
